Mindfulness Research Guide

Problem: While there have been many studies on general mindfulness education and practices showing positive results, the focus only recently has shifted to mindfulness education for children and teachers. Preliminary studies show statistically significant improvements in classrooms. A recent article in The Huffington Post discussed positive results from a study on mindfulness education for UK students. Participants reported "fewer symptoms of depression, lower stress levels and greater well-being overall." Future studies will need to be conducted before Parliament can make definite decisions to bring mindfulness education to all UK schools.

Solution: The Mindfulness Foundation is working on creating a database of mindfulness research to support and promote mindfulness education in the UK. It plans to increase awareness of mindfulness education and practices and attract funders and researchers to carry out more extensive mindfulness research.
