My name is Marie Lewis-Smith and I would like to set up a virtual action team in Wales to make mindfulness education part of the UK National Curriculum by 2022. If there are enough people interested in helping we might be able to create local action teams who can meet up and support each other.

We would love to hear from you if you are also passionate about mindfulness. It doesn't matter whether you are a teacher, parent or just a citizen of planet earth! Together we can come up with ideas to help campaign to add mindfulness to the National Curriculum.

Locally we already have some political interest in mindfulness. The MP for Vale of Clwyd Chris Ruane is an active campaigner for mindfulness in Westminster. In December 2013 he held a parliamentary debate on mindfulness. There are also 50 MPs in a mindfulness group in Westminster. In March 2014 there is an All Party Parliamentary Group looking at the role of mindfulness in health, education and the criminal justice systems.

There is also a lot of activity in Wales already to promote and introduce mindfulness. There are local schools that have introduced mindfulness to their curriculum. Ysgol Penbryn in Conwy has not only started teaching mindfulness to the children, but has also set up a lunchtime club! This paws .b [dot be] course is being evaluated by our very own local University, University of Wales Bangor, Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice.

If we can harness all this local passion for mindfulness, together we can convince politicians of the need to introduce mindfulness into schools.

If this sounds like a campaign you would like to be involved in, please send us an e-mail info@mindfulnessfoundation.org.uk.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.
